If I Were A Music Artist…

If you were a music artist, what kind of music would you produce? What artist would you be most like and why?

If I was a music artist, I would create music with a mix of Rachel Platten and Taylor Swift. Music mixed from the songs from Rachel and Taylor would be rock with included soft melodies and lyrics that provide meaningful messages. I would like to create a mix of songs from Rachel and Taylor because Rachel is really good at writing songs with encouragement and meaning while Taylor provides a lot of details that depends about a specific song’s topic. Taylor also shows quite some simplicity in her songs with different feelings and emotions each time. If I was an artist, I personally would act like Laura Marano because she is smart and quirky like me but at the same time, she is very joyful and fun to the around. Her songs are pop and I usually dance and sing along to Boombox and Lala all the time. Altogether, if I were to become an artist, that would be the type of singer I would grow into and the kind of songs that I would chose to produce.

Optical Illusions

Optical Illusions

1) Why was the illusion your favorite?
This illusion was my favorite because it tricked my mind. Just when the bunny magically appears 20 seconds after the illusion (that spins and that can really get in your head), is just mind tricking but awesome at the same time.

2) What can you say about optical illusions in general?
Optical illusions are mind boggling. They can play tricks on your mind and can really test how smart you are. For example, there was one that I played with that took over and controlled my mind. It was the illusion that I had to find a way to align the ducks and not the rabbits that the ducks can turn into. Crazy, right!!! Optical illusions are fun but confusing and puzzling at the same time. They, in my opinion, are good brain teasers.

Thoughts About Photoshop

1) Is it fair to be able to represent the female body this way?
I don’t think it is fair for the female body to be represented this way. That is my opinion because these days, a majority of the public thinks that every single woman needs to have the “perfect body.” Many celebs are now going against Photoshop because it is going way out of hand. The differences that Photoshop can make are either small or big. Unfortunately, a lot of the modifications made are humongous. Compared to the normal photo, the lady’s hips, waist, and face are slimmer in the Photoshop print. Also her collarbone was accentuated and her boobs were made to look rounder and bigger. It is an embarrassment when Photoshop is used to create these kinds of adjustments. This photo, as also others, are sending out the wrong message to the society, especially girls, who may start to feel like they aren’t beautiful or need to go anorexic to be as worth as the Photoshop models on magazines. All in all, this was why I think it is unfair for the female body to be represented by Photoshop.

2) Which image do you think is better?
Though some people argue that the Photoshop version of the model is better because it makes her look prettier and less thick, I still love the original much better. The original has everything that is expected. It shows the lady’s true self and body instead of a fake and plastic figure which does not look as good. The original not only makes the whole image more realistic but makes the model posing in it seem like a good role model and someone who embraces her own values. Being yourself and being confident in your own skin is what truly matters. I just want to say that it is important to show personal flaws because I believe anybody’s imperfections (including mines) are perfect as they are.

3) Is Photoshop cheating?
I don’t really think Photoshop is always cheating. Using Photoshop on minor issues just like on a school or family portrait is fine. Actually, many photographers suggest Photoshop to get rid of zits, blemishes, and scars on the face (or anywhere else on the body) that can show. Managing Photoshop that way is okay for me because your just utilizing it to present yourself better. But once there are big changes in photos like to make someone’s body look skinnier and another’s face more toned and beautiful is just wrong. Generating transformations such as maneuvering Photoshop to make the hips look slimmer and the legs to have a thigh gap are just plain horrendous. That is when I consider applying Photoshop as cheating. Nobody should be trying to be anything or something else that they can’t become. Each human has his or her own mind, heart, and very much, destiny. Having Photoshop can be an advantage but is still of course a great privilege. Many people should start taking that privilege as an honor and use it in a beneficial manner. So instead of going on a cheating approach to make yourself the most gorgeous woman or the most muscled and the most handsome man to ever step foot on the Earth, just appreciate that there is something that exists called Photoshop that can be serviced to help accentuate our natural beauties.

Photoshop Article

1) Who were some of the celebrities who dislike photoshop? What are their reasons?
Some celebrities that dislike photoshop are Kate Winslet and Brad Pitt. Kate Winslet’s reason is that from her photos in a GQ Magazine, the photographers revamped her by using photoshop making her look unrealistically thin. Brad Pitt’s reason for his dislike with photoshop are because he wants to keep his true figure on his W Magazine and Photoshop could ruin that. He even personally hired professional photographer Chuck Close to shoot him. Brad obviously trusts him and Chuck is known as a photographer that specializes in extremely detailed photos that still expose skin flaws. More and more celebrities are believing that it is better to expose a real picture of you instead of putting up a fake one with so many changes and modifications.

2)How does the American Medical Association (AMA) feel? Support your answer with evidence from the text.
According to the article, “Is Photoshop Destroying America’s Body?,” the American Medical Association agrees that photoshop is getting out of hand. The article clearly states that the AMA stands to a point were they think photoshop is used “for alterations that can contribute to constructing unrealistic body photos/expectations causing eating disorders and emotional problems.” To retell, the AMA is just saying that photoshop can be a bad example to the public making everyone (especially girls) think they should change in order for them to look and feel beautiful.

3)How do you feel about photoshop? Give examples from your life to support your answer.
I believe that using photoshop is a choice. Celebs can choose to use or not to use it. I personally think it is ok to use photoshop during certain situations but no all the time. If you need photoshop to clear up a zit or a pimple in a school photo, it is acceptable in my opinion. Small changes using photoshop is greatly common right now in the society but once you start making big modifications such as giving your self a bigger butt, wider hips, larger boobs, or perfect abs, it becomes unacceptable. In all, this was what my opinion is about photoshop.
